Psychodynamic therapy is about self-exploration — helping you to become more aware of your inner world, conflicts and hidden impulses.
Work one-to-one with an experienced psychodynamic therapist and gain a deeper understanding of yourself and let go of old patterns that are no longer serving you.
Psychodynamic therapy involves understanding how earlier, repressed emotions and experiences might still be affecting you and your relationships today. By examining the unconscious drives behind your issues, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and let go of old patterns that are no longer serving you.
Sessions are led by you and you’re invited to bring whatever’s on your mind. The therapist listens to your words and unconscious communications, then offers interpretations to link what you’re doing or saying with a deeper meaning or pattern, given what they know about you and your history.
It is traditionally a longer-term approach but there are briefer forms, such as Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) that typically last 16 sessions. Some people opt for a more intensive form known as psychoanalysis, which involves having multiple sessions per week and can involve lying on the couch in the session with the therapist sitting behind out of view.
When you’re ready to engage with therapy, the quality of your experience counts. At Lumo Health, we take care of everything so that you can focus on your journey to feeling better.
